Unable to launch visualisation in docker container

Hello,
I'm trying to run the planning example but the Rviz GUI is unable to load, I've been able to localize the following error codes in the terminal, which I assume are related with the problem:

[rviz2-94] MESA: error: Failed to query drm device.
[rviz2-94] glx: failed to create dri3 screen
[rviz2-94] failed to load driver: iris

My graphics card is detected with the nvidia-smi command both in the container and in my host PC. I tried to run a container only with ROS2 and works fine, but I have the same issue when running any of the autoware containers. How can I solve this?

Hi @MarcFacerias

Could you add --volume=/dev/dri:/dev/dri:ro to your run arguments and let us know if it fixes your problem? Another common reasons are custom Docker network configuration for default config or wrong assigned DISPLAY environment variable.

Hello! It seems your machine has an Intel Iris Graphic card which needs the access to /dev/dri and the Rviz is trying to use the Intel Graphics.

Perhaps, using --device /dev/dri option for docker run may work. Hopefully this helps for your debugging.

Thanks for helping me out, mounting the dri volume solved the problem. I'm a bit confused regarding why is rviz trying to use the intel graphics though, I have an nvidia graphics card which works within docker and is detected by nvidia-smi
