Perhaps we can redesign the AA to use a single storage space via a virtual filesystem API, inspiration:

advantages:

  • abstracting some of the S3/GD logic away
  • easier to allow more storage options: dropbox, ...
  • storing files during the archiving process could prevent exhausting the local file system storage

challenges:

  • how would this work when multiple storage/dbs are enabled
  • would it make sense to use this for temp files?
