Improve Music scanning with large libraries

This is to suggest a project for the improvement of the Music app - mainly the performance issues such as elementary/music#506 - very slow scanning of large number of music files.

Outcome

• Improved scanning performance with large libraries
• Fewer crashes when importing large libraries

Skills

• Familiarity with object oriented programming
• Comfortable developing on Linux with a comprehensive developer guide, or willing to learn quickly
• Able to learn how to develop in an existing Vala codebase with help from our community of developers
• Familiarity with the widget toolkit GTK, or a willingness to learn
• Ability to identify places where performance can be improved and execute on them
• Knowledge of Linux file operations and related libraries (gio, gvfs etc) and with asynchronous processes
• Interest in code performance optimization
