This is likely due to using legacy x11, WT refuses to launch sometimes

The solution is, gamescope. But this does not address that WT fails to launch properly with x11 under flatpak

I came up this place accidentally. I can say that:

From my experience it doesn't work well on Wayland without Gamescope. There is (or maybe there was, I used to launch it with gamescope until it broke for me) a game breaking bug with mouse lock not working. Gamescope is the only way to mitigate that and it also resolves some issues in other games like e.g. Star Citizen.

Gamescope is also bugged for me on Steam (at least a bit). I don't know why, but it would first launch and fail a few times in a row, then launch successfully.

I tested the game on Xorg (as of today) and it either was fixed, or perhaps it worked fine since the beginning.
The cursor bug is gone and stuttering is also gone. The gamescope instance would suffer from weird stuttering and short freezes.
