Localhost `Register` and `Sign In` buttons throw error: `credential request failed.` #5

After running

git clone [email protected]:ithacaxyz/exp-0001.git
cd exp-0001
pnpm install 
pnpm dev

to run the demo locally at

http://localhost:5173

the following error occurs when clicking buttons Register and Sign In:

credential request failed.

What might be causing this?
