There are several things that can be improved in the views that render recent activity items.
Among them are:

Have some kind of layout to render parts that are common for different types of activities (e.g. the logo of spaces)
Filter invalid activities before rendering the views, so that the views don't need to check whether the attributes are present/valid or not.
