I specialise in CSS and HTML for large scale sites, with thousands of pages, like Tourism New Zealand, and Xero's Help portal called Xero Central.

For this session, we're going to have a little chat, about what to expect, when transitioning from UI/UX Design, to Front End Development.

To keep things concise, I'm going to refer to UI/UX design as simply 'design'. Politically incorrect, but bear with me. And Front End Developer 'FED'.

To start with, designers like to create pretty things that help others.

Design can solve problems, but nothing unless it turns into something tangible

Need to make things real.

HTML/CSS is the basics, one of the first to be taught in web dev. Makes it an great entry point for non-STEM people

I know this to be true, as I only have a business degree, and an admiration for design.

I spent 1 year on a web design diploma, and came out wondering if I liked design or FED better.

I wanted to be the one who make things real and consistent.
